Insights into My Drama Tastes

Here’s a glimpse into my personal taste and what shapes what I choose to watch, and insights into my reviews and rating logic. Of course exception applies. These are but general guidelines.

My Drama Grading Logic

P&P Factor – does it have gleams of the prideful Darcy & prejudiced Elizabeth?
Trope Factor – does it have some of my favourite tropes?
Cringe Factor – does it have excessive embellishments & shenanigans and over the top evil in-laws?
Oh No Factor – does it have themes involving time travels, body swapping, cross dressing and older woman, younger man?
Educational Factor – does it have any educational value?
Wow Factor – it is none of the above but it blew me away (Misaeng sets the bar on this one!)

  1. Hi! I just stumbled on your blog from DBs. I’m going to check out your ebook. It sounds interesting.

But let me get to my real reason for commenting—your dislike of one of my favorite tropes–time traveling! When I saw it on your avoid list I thought “Noooooooooooooooo! I love time travel!” Where would we be w/o the absolutely lovely Queen In-hyun’s Man (Kim Boong-do is my dream man) or the mental gymnastics that was Nine!? Loved them. Now granted time travel has the most capacity to be done totally wrong, but when it’s right it can be awesome. Not that this rant will change your mind, but I couldn’t resist protesting a bit, lol!

    • Hi Elle! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! I see you are passionate about your time travels 🙂 No worries, I am actually pretty open minded. I love a good story period. Except for horrors! Don’t want nightmares. You just reminded me I did watch Queen In-hyun’s man; forgot to add to my list. And, yes, I did enjoy it. I grew up watching the Back to the Future series and loved them. I also loved The Lake House with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. There! Did I convince you? I won’t seek them out but can be persuaded 🙂
